We’ve got a lot of great events scheduled for the coming month. Here’s a rundown of what’s coming up at our Monday Open Night Studios.
December 19th: Intro to Sewing Class. Sewing is always a good skill to have and here’s your chance to learn the basics.
January 2nd: Make(r) Friends Night. Learn to make a friendship bracelet. Bring a friend. Make new ones.
January 9th: Maker Show and Tell. This is always a very popular event. Bring a project you’re working on or done recently and see what others are working on.
January 16th: 3D Printing Workshop. Learn how to use our 3D printer. Also a very popular event.
The doors are open from 6 to 8 pm Monday nights with scheduled events starting at 6:30 for anyone who wants to participate. We will not be having an Open Studio Night on December 26th.
We are also adding a few weekend events in January. On Saturday January 7th we will have an Intro to Ceramics class from 2 to 4 pm. On Saturday, January 14th we will have a glazing event for ceramic pieces, 2 to 4 pm. We will have a bisque firing of the kiln on January 10th and a glaze firing on January 15th. If you have a piece you would like to have fired, let us know. Also on the schedule is Friday Night HAM radio building at 7 pm weekly through mid January.
Join us at Juneau Makerspace on Monday from 6 to 8 pm for our weekly Open Night Studio. This week we will have a workshop on making holiday cards. There will also be woodworking and laser cutting projects being worked on, and as always a welcoming community to join.
Next week we will have an intro to sewing class. Other upcoming events include the weekly Friday night HAM radio building at 7 pm, and our monthly board meeting on Tuesday.
Juneau Makerspace is the perfect place to make holiday gifts for friends and family. Membership to Juneau Makerspace also makes for a great gift. We’re offering a limited time deal for new members in January of 50% off your first month of membership. For new signups January family memberships will only cost $25. Please note that members do not receive 24 hour access to the Makerspace until the start of their second month of membership.
Juneau Makerspace is a nonprofit and fully supported by your participation and donations. Consider donating to the Makerspace this holiday season to help keep us running. In addition to funding, we are always looking for tools and equipment that we don’t yet have as well as other basic necessities. Right now our wishlist also includes an 8 foot ladder. We are also looking for volunteers who are willing to help with grant writing. Please get in touch with us if you want to help.
