Holiday 2023/2024 Newsletter

We’ve got exciting things planned for 2024, but first, a look back:

Juneau is truly a wonderful community. This year at the Makerspace you created beautiful art, hosted incredible events, crafted masterful creations, and most of all, came together as a community of Makers. Our weekly Monday Open Studio Nights were in full swing this year, and it was wonderful to welcome so many people who came to check out the Makerspace, learn new skills, and meet fellow creatives. We got to work with fun tools, from the new Glowforge laser cutter and Bambu 3D printer to throwing clay on our pottery wheels. Dresses were made on our dress form and furniture was cut to size on the tablesaw.

New equipment that arrived at the Makerspace included a portable dance floor, dress form, forge, easels, a Bambu Lab X1C 3D Printer, and a Glowforge laser cutter. We can’t wait to see what you’ll use them for next.

We had a cookout on Earth Day, got creative at art nights, learned new skills at ceramics classes, and even hosted a theater performance! We also took our making out into the community with booths at the Maritime Festival, Renaissance Fair, and Public Market. Did you stop by? That’s just scratching the surface. There was so much more that happened at the Makerspace that we could devote our entire newsletter to it. However, we’ve also got a lot lined up for the coming year, which is even more exciting.

Monday Open Studios

We won’t be having our Monday Open Studio Night on January 1st, but after that we’re back to our regular schedule. We’ll be open for tours and demos on Mondays from 6 to 8 pm. If there’s a class or skill you want to share during our Open Studio, let us know and we’ll help make it happen.

To join as a member, come by for an orientation. The best time to do that is during our Monday Open Studio Nights, but we can arrange one at just about any time. See our website here for more information on memberships: http://juneaumakerspace.org/membership/.

As always, the Makerspace is available to rent for any occasion. Host a class, community meetup, or a party. See our website here for more information on rentals: http://juneaumakerspace.org/classes-and-rentals/.

We’ve got a lot of big plans for 2024, so spread the word about us. The more members we have and the more volunteers who help out, the more we can serve the community. You can get in touch with us any time at info@juneaumakerspace.org.
